Focus Area: Robotics
4th Grade
Day 20-22- If/Else Statements
1. Vocabulary:
- Algorithm - a process or set of rules to be followed in calculations or other problem-solving operations, esp. by a computer. The sequence of steps used to solve a problem or complete a task (usually in plain English and the computer does not understand)
- Program - the actual instructions given to the computer
- Sequence: a particular order in which related events, movements, or things follow each other.
- Specific: clearly defined or identified
2. Lesson:
Introduce the If/Else Blocks and Sensors
Explain the IF-ELSE coding process in the COMMAND CENTER
Look at the Light Sensor and the Temperature Sensor
We will try the light sensor in a box but the temperature sensor will not be used in the classroom.
Remember it only works when you put the sensor on

3. Activity:
1. Work on creating Command Blocks and practicing controlling your Finch using the IF-ELSE sensor.
2. Demonstrate the two sensors of the Finch.
4. Wrap-Up:
Open Finch interface and watch tutorial video #1.
